African Americans & Genealogy: Finding Ourselves in Our Family History

Friday, June 6, 2025 (10:00 AM - 12:00 PM) (EDT)

Description

When someone asks, Where are you from?”, how do you respond? Perhaps with a location like Hartford, New Jersey, or Michigan, or maybe you're unsure. But have you ever explored the deeper story of your family's origins? Do you know the "where," "how," and "who" of your ancestry across generations?

Join genealogist John Mills as he leads a powerful and informative session on tracing African American family histories. Through his nonprofit, the Alex Breanne Corporation, Mr. Mills has helped dozens of families uncover their roots, often using tools and approaches beyond traditional ancestry platforms, which may not reflect the full scope of Black family history.

Bring your questions, share your story, and discover how exploring your family’s past can bring new understanding to who you are today.
