Teen Dating Violence Prevention

Tuesday, February 3, 2026 (6:00 PM - 7:00 PM) (EST)

Description

Did You Know?

  • Nearly 1.5 million high school students nationwide experience physical abuse from a dating partner every year.
  • One in three girls in the US is a victim of physical, emotional or verbal abuse from a dating partner—a figure that far exceeds rates of other types of youth violence.
  • One in ten high school students has been purposefully hit, slapped or physically hurt by the person they are dating.

So what can you do to help the young people in your life?

Educate yourself.  Interval House invites you to bring your teens (ages 11+) to learn the facts and signs of teen dating violence and how to support teens in your community. Teens and adults will be split off into two groups.

Teens will learn what teen dating violence is, the facts, types of abuse, healthy/unhealthy relationship qualities, and accessing support/resources for themselves/friend who may be experiencing abuse.

Adults/parents/caregivers will be provided with the facts, in addition to supportive resources, a Q&A session to voice concerns, and connect with Interval House community educators.

Registration is required. Registration opens January 3rd. Please contact the Reference Desk at Windsor Public  at 860-285-1918 or visit windsorlibrary.com to register.
